I am having problems meeting my mortgage repayments and failed my obligations these last five months. My bank is threatening to take me to court. I have spoken with friends who advise me to give the property’s keys to the bank. Can we do that?
My husband has worked and paid into the Spanish social security system for almost 11 years. He is now 65 and retired. We have been told by one solicitor that he would get nothing unless he's worked for 15 years but someone else has told us that the Spanish government now work it the same as in the UK and he should be entitled to a percentage. I have recently bought a house in Andalucía, and have already given a deposit to the estate agent. The property is a very old traditional house, which has been owned by the same family for a long period of time.
The estate agent has advised me that, because of its age, there are no title deeds to the property.
I have to sign the purchase contract in a few weeks and I'm a bit worried about buying the property without any deeds. I would welcome your thoughts on the matter.
